Steve Prebble

Steve Prebble serves as the chief executive officer of Appriss Retail and is responsible for all aspects its operations, joining the business in the summer of 2019.

Prior to Appriss Retail, Steve led several marketing service provider companies, including directing the growth of SaaS engagements for EYC and Aztec (acquired by IRi), and more recently driving significant growth of the digital load-to-card promotions ecosystem at Catalina for 100+ US retailers and CPG brands, serving offers to over 50 million shoppers nationally.

Earlier, Steve held senior roles with global food retail businesses across store operations, merchandising, and marketing for leading retailers including Sainsburys, Shaw’s Supermarkets, Albertsons, and Tesco Lotus (Thailand). Steve has led the design and launch of two retail loyalty marketing programs and the creation of CRM engagement programs and the supporting insights and analytics infrastructures.

Steve earned his MBA from the Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Jennifer Gamble, Vice President, Global Revenue and Customer Success

Jennifer Gamble

Jennifer Gamble serves as vice president of growth. She joined Appriss Retail in January 2021. In her role she oversees the teams focused on sales, marketing, and customer success.

She built her career on the commercial and business operations of software companies primarily in the retail and human capital industries. She began at Accenture focused on both process consulting and resource management. She moved to the retail software industry when she joined Radiant Systems and quickly experienced the acquisition and divestiture model first-hand when Radiant spun off BlueCube Software. BlueCube was acquired first by RedPrairie and then ultimately JDA. Jennifer served in operational and customer facing roles of increasing responsibility through each ownership change. Over the course of the next six years, she led sales and customer success teams at NCR, SumTotal (a Skillsoft subsidiary), and PDI Software. She is active in various customer success, CX, and sales industry forums.

Jennifer holds a degree in Marketing from the University of Mississippi.

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCTS

Nathan Smith

As senior vice president of products, Nathan Smith is responsible for innovating and developing new products for Appriss Retail’s customers.

Nathan launched his career on the retail side of the business, starting at Safeway in the UK. He worked for several high-profile retailers such as Marks & Spencer and Tesco, performing roles as diverse as cashier, store manager, and enterprise software architect. This broad range of retail experience and knowledge enables Nathan to have great insight into the challenges facing retailers today. He went on to co-found Sysrepublic (now part of Appriss Retail).

Nathan has a degree in Information Technology for Business and over the last decade has presented at major retail events and trade shows around the globe highlighting how technology can be used more effectively to deliver value for retail businesses.

Vishal Patel, PhD

Vishal Patel, PhD

Dr. Vishal Patel is the chief technology officer for Appriss Retail. In this role he is responsible for all engineering functions, building and supporting the product suite, and helping bring new products to market that better serve Appriss Retail’s customers. He has more than a decade of software and programming experience working with a variety of different technology stacks, database solutions, and cloud providers. Previously, as the director of data science R&D for Appriss, he was responsible for building and deploying data application and machine learning models for retail customers as well as customers of Appriss Health and Appriss Insights.

Vishal has a PhD in Computer Science from University of California, Irvine where he focused on machine learning and data integration challenges and published more than a dozen peer reviewed research papers. He has also taught professional classes in data science.

CHIEF DATA SCIENTIST

David B. Speights, PhD

Dr. David Speights is the chief data scientist for Appriss Retail. He has more than 25 years of experience developing and deploying analytical solutions for some of the world’s largest companies. Throughout his career, he has managed massive amounts of data using big data tools. He is responsible for analytical modeling and managing POS data from retailers around the globe for Appriss Retail as well as overseeing the development of analytical models for other Appriss business units. In 2017 he co-authored a book about retail analytics.

Before joining the company in 2000, David was first vice president of Mortgage Credit Risk Modeling at Washington Mutual and chief statistician at HNC Software. He consults on projects within a number of industries. Speights holds a PhD in Biostatistics from the UCLA and has several patents.

VICE PRESIDENT, operational metrics & business intelligence

Dr. Adi Raz

Dr. Adi Raz serves as the vice president of operational metrics & business intelligence for Appriss Retail. She has more than 25 years of experience managing data scientists and modeling teams, developing and integrating analytical products, and building efficiencies in data operations, analytics, and modeling. Adi is responsible for end-to-end management of all operational aspects of the data and analytical products for Appriss Retail across hundreds of global retailers.   

Before joining the company in 2004, Adi was the senior director of data sciences at Washington Mutual and a pricing analyst for Circuit City. Adi earned her Doctorate in Business and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Heather Magaro

Heather Magaro is the vice president of finance for Appriss Retail. Heather is a strategic finance professional with more than 20 years of experience in leading, managing, and guiding businesses to meet their strategic objectives. Heather has had the opportunity to work for small businesses and global multinationals alike, managing all finance and accounting capabilities including FP&A, AP, AR and Financial Strategy. She has also led multiple successful M&A processes on both the buy and sell side for strategic acquirers and financial sponsors.

Heather holds a degree in Finance from the University of Southern California.

Melissa Trelfa

Melissa Trelfa is the vice president of human resources at Appriss Retail. She joined in January 2022 and leads the talent and development strategy for the business.

Melissa brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources leadership, organization design and development, and operations management.  She has been able to blend her organization development and operations background with strategic culture and talent initiatives to drive businesses forward to become high performance teams.

Prior to joining Appriss Retail, Melissa served as a Human Resources Executive in several industries ranging from manufacturing to health insurance to large hospital systems.  Her passion is recognizing the potential in people and organizations and serving as a catalyst to move them forward with steady, purposeful, and consistent action.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts in Human and Organization Development from Oakland University.

Michele Marvin

Michele Marvin runs global marketing for Appriss Retail, overseeing the teams responsible for driving growth thru marketing strategy, branding, demand generation, product marketing, digital marketing, content marketing and events.

Michele launched her career at marketing agencies, working with leading healthcare, construction and technology brands. She made the switch to corporate marketing in 1999 and has worked at various B2C and B2B companies, always with a focus on innovation and technology.

With her background in brand, product and event marketing, as well as more than 10 years leading demand generation teams, Michele’s superpower is ensuring the marketing strategy and tactics are aligned with the business strategy in order to efficiently drive growth.

Michele earned her Bachelor of Science from Florida Southern College and holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
